Michele, This forum has been very helpful in planning our first trip to Ireland. After spending 2 nights in the town of Dingle , we were going to drive to Kenmare for 2 nights there. I read your Stickey about Loch Lein Country House Hotel , and I looked at their website. It sounds very nice. If we Stay in Focca would we have to drive through Kilarney city traffic to get to Kenmar for a day trip, or can it be avoided? No beltway I expect.
I'm glad you are enjoying my forum and finding it helpful for your trip.
Loch Lein is very nice indeed. Paul and Annette will be happy to give you exact directions on how to get through Killarney to Muckross Road.
There is a bypass road around Killarney but it would only be of benefit to you if you were taking the Cork road to Kenmare. I assume you want to take the "scenic route" through Moll's Gap and the mountains? In that case you would have to drive through Killarney and head out on the Muckross Road. However, unless there is something unusual going on in town if you avoid rush hour, you should be fine.
