bonald,

From your last post I believe you are going to spend that night in Glendalough? Can you tell me what you plan to see along the way? That will determine the best route.

we finally took the R115. it was a very fun ride with a couple of stops to climb some of the hills.
we did get to Glendalough but it was crazy, there was too many people in there. I even entered the parking lot in the wrong side... first day driving on the left gave me a couple of hearthattacks.
after that we went to kilkenny and we spent two nights in a farmhouse. We did the Dunmore cave and Kilkenny castle and all the church in Kilkenny.
today we did waterford, dunmore and now we will spend the night in dungarvan.
I didn't like waterford... but Dunmore was a really nice place.

next stop will be cobh, kinsale then kenmare. but that might change!

bonald,

I didn't realize that you were currently in Ireland. Hope your trip is going well and that the route you took pleased you. Glendalough can be crazy in season and especially on holidays and weekends. I always try to plan so I am not in that area at those busy times. The locals tend to visit Glendalough either very early in the morning or late in the afternoon/evening when the crowds have died down.

Yes, I agree that Waterford is not Ireland's most attractive city. I think that most people prefer the charms of the countryside and small towns and villages rather than the larger cities.

Let us know how everything goes when you get back. We would enjoy knowing.

Michele
