I just have a quick question about car hire in Ireland. I'm planning a trip with my partner to Ireland in about 6 months time (early-mid December), looking to hire a car for about 10 days. The trouble is that I am only 21 years old, and most companies seem to have a minimum of 23. Do you know of any companies who would be willing to hire to a 21 y.o? At the time of arrival, I will have been on a full Australian liscence for 1.5 years.
Also, Do any companies overlap between Republic and Northern Ireland? Specifically, are you able to pick up in Belfast and drop off in Dublin (or the other way around?)
Most car companies in Ireland will not rent to very young drivers. Also most of them want drivers to have held a driver's license for a minimum of two years.
The best thing to do will be an Internet search of companies and reading their rules to see if you can find one.
There are some compaines that do one-way rentals between the Republic and NI and vice versa. Most have large drop-off fees.
You may find that because of your age you need to take public transportation instead.
