I haven't seen this posted, so if it's a duplicate I apologize. I just found out that Delta has made October 3 the last day of service into SNN from JFK. So if you have flights booked...make sure to call and try to reschedule your trip. It doesn't appear that Delta is actually notifying people so beware.
My departure date was moved from the 5th to the 3rd and my return was re-routed a very unreasonable schedule thru Paris without any notice! I've since changed my plans to start my trip a few days early and depart out of Dublin, but I will need to start over on my planning. Aaarghh.
Thanks for the warning about Delta. I travel on them frequently from Altlana to Ireland. They change their schedules seasonally. I used to fly into Shannon but now do Dublin. They don't have business class anymore on their Shannon flights.
If you need any help with your change of plans, just let us know.
Hi Michele and Terry, I'm so sorry to hear about the flight change. Shannon is so convenient, Dublin is so big and unwieldy.
Will there be any flights left from the US directly to Shannon? I wonder about flkying to Dublin and then to Shannon, have done that a couple of times.
Be advised it's not just SNN that has been affected by Delta's schedule change. The departure time of our December 5th flight from ATL-DUB was moved back two hours, giving us a mere 30 minutes to connect from our flight from St. Louis. And our December 15th return trip was cancelled entirely!
Thank goodness I read about the Shannon schedule changes on this forum and decided to double check our Dublin reservations. A couple of phone calls to Delta's very helpful and understanding phone agents took care of our issues. The only problem they couldn't fix was our arrival in Dublin at 7 AM vs. the 9:30 AM arrival on our original flight.
I'm still wondering when Delta (or Orbitz where we made the booking) was planning to tell us about the schedule changes.
Speaking of the importance of double checking flights, I have been unable to view our itinerary on the Aer Lingus website. I keep getting a message that my entry does not match our original arrival city (Shannon), so I called Aer Lingus. Oh, by the way, your 11:15 Jet Blue flight from Dulles to JFK is now leaving at 7:08 AM. Looks like a very long layover now at JFK. We are thinking of going to Flushing Chinatown for the day/lunch before our 6:30 departure. Good thing i checked on our flights.
Roy, we are interested in some way to spend a 7 hour layover at JFK on Aug 5th also. We have never been to NYC before....could you tell us a little more about Flushing-Chinatown? What are the transportation options from JFK? Thanks Dan
There is the Airtrain ( http://www.mta.info/mta/airtrain.htm ) at JFK that transports between terminals and also goes out to Jamaica where you can pick up the subway to just about anywhere in NYC. Manhattan is about an hour away. Flushing Chinatown ( http://queens.about.com/cs/neighborhoods/a/tour_flushing.htm ). From the Airtrain we will take the E subway to the 7 subway. I would estimate 30-45 minutes total at most.
