Renewing vows

My family is planning a trip to Ireland next year. We want to renew our wedding vows. There won't be many of us and I know we can not get remarried (Irish laws). Does anyone have ideas on small, quaint, beautiful places for about 12 to 15 people for a brief ceremony?

myksandme,

Welcome to my forum. I hope you will find it a good place to get all your questions answered about Ireland.

What sort of place do you have in mind for your vow renewal? Are you looking for a chapel, small guesthouse, an ancient ruin, a castle, or what?

The first place that popped into my mind was Gougane Barra. It is a wonderfully isolated chapel surrounded by mountains on an lake. Many people also like the idea of sealing the bargain by touching hands through the holed stone at Kilmalkedar.

There are so many different sorts of places that could be used. Tell me what you want.

Michele

THANK YOU!!!!! That is amazingly beautiful. It has similar attributes to where we first had our vows here in the states. How would I look in to that?? Any more options would be fantastic!!

St. Finbarr's Oratory, Gougane Barra, is in the parish of Inchigeela, County Cork.
There is a contact priest listed for this beautiful church. The web site is.........

Any further ideas is greatly appreciated. It may end up being my hisband & I and our two boys and 5 or 6 friends. We want it relaxed and informal. That is a beautiful location and is definitely in my mind.  Thank you again!!! And keep ideas coming, please:)

myksandme,

If you are looking for something a little more upscale take a look at Tankardstown. It is really a beautiful estate.

Hi Michele,

I friend of mine in England found a gentlemen that performs ceremonies on the Aran Islands. His name is Dara Molloy. Have you heard of him??  The ceremonies he does sound perfect for what we are looking for.  Do you know of some good areas to stay to do daytrips in the Galway, Kerry and Clare Co. areas?  Also, what information do you have on Nortern Ireland? We want to do a minimum of 1 day there to go to Giant's Causeway.

Thank you and Seasons Greetings, Marilyn

Marilyn,

Sorry, I haven't heard of Dara Molloy. Some good areas to day trip from are Galway, Westport, Killarney, Kenmare, Ennis.

I have a lot of info on No. Ireland. Do you have some specific questions?

Michele

If you only plan to spend one day in Northern Ireland -- primarily to see the Giant's Causeway -- then one of these day tours out of Dublin might be your best option:

MOST seem to average about 65 Euro per person.

I was, wondering how to renew our vows on March 15, 2018. We will be in Belfast on that date and that is where I would like to do it. I have contacted several of the local rector and have not gotten a reply from them. Please help!
