FIRST TRIP TO IRELAND

I am traveling for the first time out of the country. Im a bit nervous about the flight over.

Anyways I am doing a ton of research on Ireland because I am really interested in the beauty of ireland and love doing photography. I dont want to relax I want to see every beautiful thing there is to see. Can you please let me know what places I should NOT miss seeing before leaving Ireland. I am staying 4-5 days.

Thanks!! biggrin

Welcome aboard! biggrin

Four to five days doesn't come close to letting you see it all, but you CAN see A LOT ...

Details, please --  When?  Dublin, or Shannon?  Self-drive, or public transport????

THANKS! biggrin

I am leaving March 20-26th and will be landing in Shannon, Ireland! I am staying with a friend who will be moving there shortly and so were not up to date on everything there so I will be self-driving myself everywhere plus thats easiest for me to explore and take my time. I like learning the history of places and capturing amazing photos.

Im hoping this wont be my last trip to Ireland

a14wallace,

Welcome to my forum. Where will your friend live? If you have some time to overnight elswhere Co. Kerry has all the "bells & whistles" for amazing photos. Not that othere areas don't. Just that if flying into Shannon it is only 2 hours to Killarney, another 1 1/2 hours to Dingle, a day trip to Ring of Kerry. Think of Ireland's highest mountains, most beautiful drives, highest passes, rugged peninsulas with pristine beaches and spectacular scenery.

Let us know if you want more suggestions.

Michele

Take some time to go over to the trip report forum - I'm sure you'll find all sorts of great spots not to miss! But yes, you are landing in the garden spot of scenery for Ireland. :)

a14wallace,

The coast of Clare is beautiful. You can see the Cliffs of Moher, Burren and Loop Head from your friend's house. There are dolphin watching cruises you can take, a cruise to the cliffs, day trip to the Aran Islands. Loop Head is a wonderful place for photos and much overlooked by tourists. If you like gardens try Vandeleur Walled Gardens
