The Dublin Saga


I'm reading "The Dublin Saga" by Edward Rutherfurd, a two-volume historical novel that begins in pre-Celtic times, then traces Dublin from when it was a family farmstead, down through its civil war in the 1920's. It's the geneology of two families and their offshoots. Rutherfurd is a master at this ("Russka", "Sarum", about England; "London", and, most recently, "New York". If you like getting your history along with some sex and a lot of violence, this beefy 1,500 page turner is for you.
