Hello, My boyfriend and i are going to be going to ireland for the first time this summer!! The thing is i have NO idea where to start. I have wanted to go to ireland since i was 16 so im a little excited to say the least! Here is a little about us We are both 24 years old, we are very laid back, not too big into partying and big cities. I would like to see irelands countryside and small towns rather than the big cities. We both very much would like to go to some irish pubs and have a beer while listening to some live irish bands. We are flying into shannon arriving 5:50 am on august 15th Flying out of dublin on August 29th at 2:30 pm I definately want to fit Galaway and wicklow in there somewhere. What is the best route for us to get from shannon to dublin with a few stops inbetween (want to spend atleast 3 days in most places so we arent rushed)
Link to Map of my ideas. Leave shannon airport and go to galaway right away. From galaway head down to killarney/kenmare stopping at ballybunnion beach to break up drive (any other stops we could hit on the way let me know?) from there head up to killkenny. Then to wicklow.. final stop dublin

If you go to Michele's Main Page - the link in the header marked, "Return to IrelandYes.com Website" - and scroll down to the bottom, there are links to a WEALTH of info, like the AA (think AAA, in the US) website. Michele has organized data for Lodging, Car Rental, etc....
Also, if you have the time, try reading some of the Trip Reports, which should give you LOTS of ideas about things to see, etc....
The Good News is that you still have time to make up a good overall plan and overcome some obstacles (like the under-age rental car premium, from your other post ). You also are allocating a reasonable time ( 2 weeks) to really enjoy, rather than just 'SEE', Ireland.
I'm sure that Michele, or one of the other Irregulars will chime in with more specific ideas soon. I'm at work now (on BREAK -- HONEST! , but I'll try to add MY 1 Euro Cent worth, too, after I get home and have access to my research.
Hang in there --- we're here to help.
By the way, you can make the links 'Clickable' if you use the REPLY function, rather than the 'Quick Reply'. Bob

I edited your post with the long link to the map. It was causing the post to spread out sideways and made it hard to read. Also when posting here if you click on "Advanced Editor" button underneath the reply box - you will be able to put hyperlinks and a whole lot more in your post.
As Bob has suggested, take a spin through my website. Go to Getting Started first and order all your free info from Tourism Ireland. There is a different page for each subject you will want to know about when planning your trip. I got an email recently from someone who just ordered my book. She said that in the first few pages there was all the info she spent months on the Internet researching. If you want a "user friendly" time saver then consider ordering my book. The new 2010 editon will be out this month. I will announce it on the forum when it is ready.
Once you have done a little more research, I suggest you sit down with a map, your calendar and list of "must sees". Notice where they are clustered. Those clusters will most likely make for good bases. Then it is easy enough to connect the dots.
There is really no one-size-fits-all route or plan for Ireland. Everyone has different likes, dislikes and expectations. As you discover yours, you will be better able to map out a great trip.
