I am pondering my options to go from the northern part of County Clare (Ballyvaghan to Cliffs of Moher in the morning) to Tralee in a day. It looks like a lonnnnnnngggggg drive if I go via Limerick and I can cut an hour or more by taking the ferry across the Shannon.
Is there anything in Limerick that is a must do? I wanted to get to Tralee so I could more easily do the Dingle Peninsula the next day but a different option would be to overnight in a place like Adare, then get an early start to Dingle the next day (still a long drive to start off).
Limerick is usually not on tourist's radar. I think you will enjoy the ride down the coast of Clare and the ferry ride. Tralee is a so-so town. If you can go another half hour you might consider The Shores Country House on Dingle's north shore. It is an all-time favorite of me and my readers.
