Ireland in May (First Time)

noThanks so very much for this site.... It has a vast wealth of knowledge. We have a group of four family members (in laws) traveling to Ireland on May 18th and returning on June 2nd.  We will be staying at the Heritage Resort for 6 nights and then heading to Northern Ireland for 3 days and two nights and then to Adare Manor for six nights.  I need ideas as to what we can legistically see from these different stays.  We all have different interest so about anything will go for us.  I am particularly interested in small villages, national parks and lots of scenery.  I would appreciate any help I could get in planning this fun trip.

Thanking you in advance for all your help.

Lulu,

Welcome to my forum. I assume you are staying at the Heritage Spa & Golf Resort in Co. Laois? Sounds like you are self-catering at the Heritage and Adare Manor.

My book Ireland Dream Trip has lots of reviews and suggestions. But off the top of my head here are a few things to put on your list.

Co. Laois
Rock of Dunamase
Emo Court
Timahoe round Tower and Church
Birr Castle Gardens
Aghaboe Monastic Site
Donaghmore Museum
Slieve Bloom Mountains Drive

Adare:

Adare Village, Park & Churches
Foynes Flying Boat Museum
Rock of Cashel
Cahir Castle
Swiss Cottage
Cliffs of Moher & Burren (take the ferry)
King John's Castle
St. Mary's Cathedral
Hunt Museum
Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Carriagfoyle Castle
Lough Gur

I don't know where you will be in No. Ireland. Have you planned that yet? Well, that should give you a start.

Michele

Michele,

Thanks for your quick response and suggestions. The only plans we have made for Northern Ireland is two nights of B&B (locations not determined at this time). I realize that there is much to see and do and we have cut ourselves short in time so any suggestion would be appreciated. We will be leaving the Heritage Spa and Resort and traveling up north and be returning to the Adare Manor.

Thanks again for having such a great site for everyone to gather information.

Lulu,

Happy to help. Let me know if you have any other questions. I would be very interested in hearing your feedback about Heritage and Adare Manor. I have inspected the townhouses, villas and Adare Manor and liked it. Have not been to Heritage yet.
