Welcome to my forum. There are quiet a few options from Dublin. First go to Visit Dublin and click on See and Do. Then on the bottom left click on Tours.

Some of the best would be:

Newgrange at Bru na Boinne
Powerscourt & Glendalough

But I see you will be touring Wicklow so perhaps you will see Powerscourt and Glendalough while there.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate your WebSite for all the information. Have you heard anything about the Rural Pub Tours http://www.ruraltours.ie/. We are thinking of doing that on my birthday.

Are there any river or costal tours you would recommend as an alternative?

I've not done Rural Pub Tours but it sounds like fun. Something else to consider is the Causey Farm and Food, Folk and Fairies Night.

The Liffey boat tour generally gets poor reviews because you can't see much. Also the river is tidal.
