Thought I would mention that -- furious  furious  AFTER  furious  furious having eaten lunch in Skibbereen, on Sunday, 22 April --- we drove past The Church  and discovered that it has been rebuilt!!!!

It isn't the cheapest place in town for food -- but it may very well be the best.

Roy -- Hopefully, some of my Trip Report info will be of use to you this summer.

Have you thought about driving from Youghall to Midleton and taking the TRAIN into Cork or Cobh??  If you pre-book and buy online, tickets can be had for as little as 10 Euro per person, each way.

You can only purchase them 28 days out -- and they are 'First Come First Served'.  You CAN specify pick up at station, which is what I did, for my Dublin Trip...

They issue you a printable reservation number and you enter that into the kiosk machine, or give it to the counter clerk on the day of travel to receive your actual tickets.

If the Irish government allows the airports to be closed they are crazy. I don't think it will happen. At least hope not.

Just a bit of Sabre rattling. We tend to do that over here...Police, Fire and Security are extremely unlikely to take industrial action especially as negotiations are in progress.

I wonder where on the Sliabh he was?...as most of it has a rudimentary fencing to keep such things from happening....not that a good wind gust wouldn't push ya through...Very lucky lad!

True enough...same as the Cliffs of Moher...though someone said they now have a guard at the step over stile...and they aren't letting people out on the cliff trail there

The "fence" isn't much in the way of a deterrent...not much more than horse fence in between poles.... but that is the draw of the Sliabh...it isn't over developed ...it is wild and rugged...and I pray that doesn't change any time soon...

The Cliff path IS a public right of way, there is also a public right of way to the Cliff path. When you Pay to enter the Cliffs of Moher you are paying for entrance to the visitors centre and use of the facilities. The same is the case at the Giants Causeway where you now pay to walk through the entrance booth.
