Killarney....3 Nights

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello again Michele, I will be in Ireland for 15 nights in June and plan on spending 3 nights in Killarney. I was wondering what is on the top of your list when visiting the area? After Killarney we're going to Dingle for 1 night. Do you think I might be better off trading in one of my nights in Killarney and staying in Dingle for 2 nights? I can't tell you how helpful your site has been in the planning this wonderful trip. Thank you, Diana

Hi Diana,

Thanks for your comments about my web site. I'm very glad that it is helping you plan your trip. I designed it to be easy and to walk anyone step-by-step through the initial planning process. Then the forum is here for more in-depth advice.

Both Killarney and Dingle are worthy of spending a few days in but Killarney is centrally located for doing more than Dingle is. For instance from Killarney you can do the Ring of Kerry (a trip that will take a whole day). You could also do the Beara Peninsula from there (another whole day). Just seeing everything in the vicinity of Killarney can also take another day: Muckross House, Gardens, Abbey and Traditional Farms, Ross Castle, Torc Waterfall, the view from Aghadoe, Ladies View, Killarney National Park, shopping in town, boat ride on the lakes, a jaunting car ride around, etc. Then there is the whole day excursion to the Gap of Dunloe by horseback or jaunting car and boats.

You can probably see everything you want by staying one night in Dingle, though it depends on exactly what you want to do. If you had planned on some hiking or horseback riding then you might want to add an extra day for Dingle. So just decide which attractions and activities are most important to you and then you will be able to make a decision about how many days to spend in each place.

Once you get your itinerary firmed up you will want to make lodging reservations for June, which is approaching fast!

Happy travels,

Michele
