TV SHOW

Some comments refer to a show displaying the Glendalough/Wicklow area. I think the name begins with
Bally.... What channel is it on and what time.

If we visit the Kilkenny castle, is there anything else to visit in the city subsequent to looking for a B&B in the area. Not sure if we would have the daylite time to make it to Cashell when we begin our day tourig in Glendalough/Wicklow.

regards
mary and gary

Ballykissangel

Hi Gary,

The show you are referring to is Ballykissangel filmed in Avoca Co. Wicklow. It is generally shown on PBS at different times and days in different cities. You will have to check your TV listing or call PBS to find out when it's on where you live.

Kilkenny is a great city (my favorite in Ireland). You can visit the Kilkenny Design Center, St. Canice's Cathedral (and round tower), Rothe House and take a walking tour that departs from the tourist office. In the countryside nearby are Kells, Jerpoint Abbey and Kilree.

Ballykissangle

The shows name is Ballykissangle and can be found on PBS (need to check your local listings for times if shown at all) It is filmed in Avoca in the wicklow area. Kilkenny is a wonderful medieval style city to wlak around and I know it is Michele's and one of my favorites in Ireland so you will enjoy walking around.

If your cable system provides it, Ballykissangel is also on BBCamerica daily.

I'm not sure if BBC and BBCamerica are exactly the same thing, but Ballykissangel is on BBCamerica at 10:00 a.m.(central time) Monday through Friday. For more info on Ballykissangel, you can go to www.bbcamerica.com, scroll to the bottom of the homepage, click on shows a to z, and then click on Ballykissangel.

I watched my first show of ballykissangel. Reminds me of our soap operas. Mary and I favor As the world turns. Anyway, I figure when we finish touring Wicklow, we then drive south to Arklow, then thru Avoca and subsequently to Glendalough as we continue the Byrne research geneolgy.

thanks to all

I am now watching the show when time allows. Thank you marymacn and others. However, we were wondering about the location of one show. It displayed 2 hot air balloons lifting off from a small lakeside beach. Any chance it was at upper Glendalough lake.?? Wondered if anyone recognised the location. It had very nice scenery. We definatly plan to travel thru Avoca on our upcoming trip next month. Need to check out Fitzgerald's pub. It's beginning to get a little exiting now.

best to all.

PS. I hope some of our questions aren't to dumb.

No Dumb Questions

Hi Gary & Mary,

No such thing as dumb questions. We are all just having fun here and getting info about Ireland. I didn't see the episode of Ballykissangel you mentioned so can't help. Maybe someone else has seen it. Or when you get back you can tell us if your suspicions were correct!

Michele ;)
