Just received your book. It is terrific! My fiance and I would like to spend 1 night and 1 day in Dublin (most likely on 9/6/01). Can you recommend any good B&B's that accept vouchers in Dublin. We would like to be able to either take the train or transit into town or walk. I heard it is difficult to drive in Dublin.
Thanks.

Thanks for your comments about my book. It is difficult to drive in Dublin and you are better off taking public transportation around the city. It's also difficult to find B&Bs in the Dublin area that accept vouchers (many don't) but there are some in the Town & Country book. However, I don't have any personal recommendations for a downtown B&B that takes vouchers. Most of the B&Bs you will find in Dublin will be in the suburbs. The prime, most desirable downtown area is too expensive for anything but hotels and guesthouses that can charge more. I suggest calling the Irish Tourist Board at 1-800-223-6470 and requesting the Town & Country book so that you can look at the photos and descriptions to see if anything suits you. You can also access the book online at: www.commerce.ie/towns_and...index.html I have many recommendations for good guesthouses and hotels in the prime downtown area. Let me know if you want those. Brookfield Lodge, which is in my book is near the airport and takes vouchers but definitely requires reservations. From there you can catch the bus into Dublin. I hope this helps you a little.

We are willing to book a hotel. Can you reccomend one that is close to the sights and cool bars? We also will have our car, so will need to park in a garage or something.
Thanks.

Yes, you're right, you should park your car in a garage while in Dublin or if it is the very beginning of your trip or the end you could always rent the car for one day less on either end.
These are my recommendations for Dublin city center:
