Connemara Tour? Has anyone taken the Connemara tour offered by O'Neachtain (sp? ) Tours or know of anyone who has taken it? It is a day tour that leaves from Galway and takes you through Spidal, Screeb, Kylemore, Letterfrack, Clifden, etc. ends in Galway. It's US $24. Anyways, is it any good? I think it'll be a great way for me to squeeze in some of the sights I wouldn't otherwise have a chance to see, like Spidal, Kylemore Abbey and Letterfrack. But I'm worried it might be too rushed. Should I go ahead spend the money for it? I guess I don't have to decide now, but I'd appreciate some feedback.
I haven't done that bus tour since I always travel around independently. However, it looks like a very good tour of Connemara. You will get to see quite a bit and can leave the driving to the bus driver. It does pack a lot in and you will have a full day. But it looks enjoyable.

Yes! I did two of O'Neachtan's tours while in Galway. The Connemara one, and the Cliffs of Moher. The Connemara tour was the better of the two because they made more stops for photos along the way, but the Cliffs tour had a long stop at the cliffs. These are really just sight-seeing tours, the guides don't provide a lot in the way of history or other information, you are simply let loose to take photos or shop, the guide/driver just goes for coffee. I found the store in Spiddal, Standun's, to be the best place to shop so save your money for things like crystal vases and Belleek, lots of sweaters, too. I wrote about both of these trips over on the 'I'm Back' board if you want to read more.
Thanks for your first-hand info about the different tours. I'm sure they will be of great help.

bus tours from Galway I have also taken both trips from Galway with O'Neachtain. On my Cliffs tour, the bus was not full and we made lots of stops for photos -- but you can't control that! Unfortunately, I took the Connemara tour on a Sunday and the Standun shops at Spiddal were closed No stop at the Marble shop either, I assume for the same reason. I would recommend either. And I thought both guides were informed and enthusiastic about the area covered -- the Cliffs tour especially was a lot of fun.
Thanks for your advice. I will go ahead and book the connemara tour, I'm so excited about it. I'll be doing the tour on a Thursday, so hopefully all of the shops you mentioned will be open. Anyways, thanks again! I'll be sure to post my journal when I get home and give you my impression of the tour.
