With the latest round of flight cuts at Shannon Airport, local businesses are trying to raise awareness in Dublin of the impact this will have on the region... much less on travelers.
I've signed it, and encourage anyone who feels their travel plans will be affected by reduced flights or the closure of Ireland's west coast airline, to add their name to the list.
I signed the petition first thing this morning. I also sent it out to my friends. It would be sad to see Shannon reduced to a "regional" airport. It is the friendliest airport of the two major airport. Those of us who fly into Ireland most frequenly should be a cumulative loud voice.
I pay E10 to fly out of Knock, as an airport development fee. I would be more than happy to pay this every time I fly out of Shannon. Unfortunately Irish air space is ruled by Mr M O'Leary (Ryanair) who despite much admiration as a business man lacks any of the morals that would aspire him to sainthood.

I know for people who aren't as familiar with the stress the flight cuts are causing in the Shannon Region, there isn't a lot of info on the site, so I've asked the people I know associated with the site to add more info. As shown in the the comments on our blog post here http://irishfireside.com/2010/09/16/help-save-shannon-airport/
I have to say, Aer Lingus hasn't been a huge friend to Shannon lately either... however, they certainly have financial woes of their own that they need to figure out before they can show concern for anyone else.
Thank you Corey for bringing this petition to our attention; I have just signed. When we were departing from SNN in June we talked to several people who were doing surveys and research with a view to saving the airport. Here's hoping!!
