ADARE Manor

I just looked at the prices for Adare Manor and almost fell out of my chair. Is it really worth it?? my heavens....maybe we should just stick to the B&Bs!

Re: Adare Manor

Hi stannseniors,

There are some excellent B&Bs in Ireland and they are very good value for your money. Adare Manor is a very posh 5-star hotel. It is like comparing apples and oranges. There is always a market for those wanting to go upscale or to just splurge for a night. Places like Adare Manor and Dromoland Castle fit that niche.

Your book was mailed to you today and you should have it shortly. When it arrives you will have some excellent choices in the B&B and guesthouse category.

If you feel like a splurge without wanting to spend all that money you can always stay at a B&B and have lunch, dinner or tea at one of the posh places. I do that on occasion. You get to enjoy the atmosphere and impeccable service and then return to your comfortable B&B later on. Once you are in your bed with the lights out you don't know whether you are at the Ritz or a cozy little B&B anyway.

Re: ADARE Manor

Well - if you want a 'little splurge' but not on the scale of Adare Manor, you could look at the Chart House in Kinsale. www.charthouse-kinsale.com/

When we were there in April it was around 130euros a night for Large GORGEOUS rooms - each with it's own Jacuzzi tub. If you look at their site, we had the 'BLUE' room and the "GREEN' room. The pictures are very accurate.

The owner there is wonderful and gave fabulously accurate directions. Breakfast was great.
The only drawback is there was construction across the street, so the immediate view was not perfect, but step outside the door and you are steps from the water.

plane info

thank you for your response - lol - i can't figure out how i did the voting thing under my first post - sorry. I think you have a great idea - Lunch/tea at Adare that first day might be good - We may splurge and stay there but I'm afraid of how we will be the rest of the trip at B&Bs if we get spoiled at Adare. I'm anxiously waiting for your book - can't believe our trip is in a month- i feel like i need to get cracking on reservations for the Bunratty banquet and lodging the first and last night.

( I think you clicked on NEW POLL instead of NEW TOPIC)

You DEFINITELY need to get your reservations for the Banquet ASAP. They fill up fast. I would do this today.
Then I would get your 1st /last night done. The next month will fly by, and then suddenly it will be time to go.

Hi stannseniors,

You definitely need the banquet reservations and I answered you under your other posting. Below are two lovely, highly recommended B&Bs in the Bunratty area:

Bunratty Lodge (Maureen O'Hara stays there): www.bunrattylodge.com

Headley Court: www.headleycourt.net

Take a look and see what you think. You might enjoy the queen four-poster or the room with a private deck at Bunratty Lodge. At Headley Court the downstairs room has a huge Jacuzzi tub.
