Long sleeves in early September

I have read up a lot about what type of clothing to wear for my trip the 2nd week of September - I know that layering is the key. The only thing I am wondering is should I pack mostly thin - medium long sleeve shirts and plan on layering a light jacket on top or should I bring mostly short sleeves and plan on layering the jacket on that? Will I get too warm in the long sleeves shirt? Can anyone help?

sleeves

My choice would be nice tee shirts layered with flannel or chambray long-sleeved shirts or a cotton cardigan. Don't forget a water-repellent windbreaker. This should give you enough flexibility.

Hi flutterby1,

When I travel to Ireland in September I take a couple of short sleeve and a couple of long sleeve. I always have a long sleeve cotton turtle neck, which I can wear under a long sleeve blouse if it turns cool. I agree that you should take a waterproof windbreaker with an attached hood. If it is too rainy for an umbrella (or even hat!) you will be covered.

Good Question

We are leaving the 7th and I was agonizing about what to take....long sleeved or short sleeved, sweaters or sweatshirts. Thanks for asking!

Re: Good Question

In late May this year, I only had one day in which I could have considered wearing short sleaves, and it was the last. Mind you, I'm from Colorado and I'm used to the cold. I'm not sure that I've had many days if any that were too hot for long sleaves (I usually travel in May), but they have been having a warmer summer than usual over there.
