 Terrific Trip

My husband and I returned from Ireland last week. The weather was great. Just a few showers here and there, not enough to ruin any outdoor activities and being from the south, the cool weather was so refreshing.

The trip did start off rocky. Bad weather caused us to miss our connection to Dublin,(I was so disappointed) but fortunately we caught a flight to Scotland that night and arrived in Dublin in the afternoon so we just missed a few hours.
Our second day we took The St. Kevin's bus to Glendalough. It was fabulous. What a beautiful place.

The next day we picked up our rental car and hit the sometimes confusing and winding roads of Ireland. Everyday was an adventure - sometimes frustrating when lost. We visited the Rock of Dunamase - great views, the Rock of Cashel - wonderful sight as you drive into town, Blarney - kissing the stone was a little unsettling.

We spent two nights in Killarney - I love that area, we drove part of the Ring of Kerry - from Kenmare to Killarney. We also drove the Dingle Peninsula. What a spectacular drive. The Blasket Centre was very interesting and such a great design for the building.

We also went to the windy Cliffs of Mohr. It seemed that the wind could pick me up and send me into the sea. We went twice to get the morning and evening perspectives. We spent a delightful evening at Gus O'Connors sitting at the bar and talking with the waitresses.

We spent our last night in Bunratty. We really enjoyed the Folk Park, and loved the medieval banquet. I was afraid it would be way too hokey, but the singing was beautiful and we meant some great people.

And of course we enjoyed the duty free shopping at Shannon. All and all a fabulous trip. We stayed at great B&B's, the people we so nice, and my husband enjoyed all the World Cup craze in Ireland. I've rambled on enough. Thanks again for the advice in planning it!

Welcome Back!

Hi Tobie & Scott,

Thanks for stopping by the forum to tell us about your trip. It sounds like a great and very enjoyable vacation. I'm glad that after the rocky start things settled down and you got to see some of the highlights of the Emerald Isle.

Glad to be of help with the planning. If you have any suggestions for others planning their trips, feel free to participate on this forum whenever you like. And if you know of others traveling to Ireland I would appreciate your sharing info about the forum with them. The more people we can help the better.

Michele
