FAMILY TRIP TO IRELAND IN MARCH I will be taking my son, daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren (6 and 3) to Ireland in March. I have rented a cottage near Cork and we will be driving out from there to see the countryside. I have been there twice before, but this will be the first time for the rest of my family so I want to show them as much as possible. Can individuals go to Rathbaun Farm (or some place similar)? If so, how would I contact them? I do plan to spend most of the time on the West coast, but would appreciate any recommendations.
Re: FAMILY TRIP TO IRELAND IN MARCH Hello Jeanette,
Welcome to the forum. It sounds like a wonderful family vacation you are planning. Since you have been to Ireland before you probably know quiet a few of the places you want to show your family. Another good idea is to get a couple of travel books and read up on what's in the area. Of course in March not everything will be open but here are a few things to choose from:
1. Kinsale (the kids would enjoy the forts there) 2. Blarney Castle 3. Cobh, The Queenstown Story 4. Fota Wildlife Park 5. Mizen Vision (Mizen Head Light) 6. Waterford Crystal 7. Cahir Castle 8. Cashel 9. Killarney 10. Cork City Gaol & Radio Museum
You can contact Rathbaun Farm at: (091) 635385
Dualla House outside Cashel also provides farm visits (sheep farm) and has sheep dogs herding sheep. Contact them: www.tipp.ie/dualla-house.htm ; Address: Martin and Mairead Power, Dualla House, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Tel/Fax: 062 61487 E-mail: duallahse@tinet.ie or duallahse@eircom.net
Have a fun trip with your family. We would enjoy hearing how it goes for you.
Happy travels,
Michele

same Just a footnote on Rathbaun Farms. Frances was such a great hostess and I had tears in my eyes when our bus pulled away. I wanted to stay there forever..
