Cullinans is :

Be sure to double check with them if the restaurant will be open when you are there - When we were there in April , it had not yet opened for the season.

Recommended B&Bs

Hi stannseniors,

Before driving yourself crazy on the Internet looking at every B&B in Ireland (that will really make your head spin), remember that I have some excellent ones listed in my book. I realize that Launard House in Kilkenny will not be open in October, which is why I gave you a few other suggestions. I will put them below again. Why not print this page and put it in your Ireland file? Then you will have the info at your fingertips. Or you could simply bookmark this page.

Doolin:

Cullinan's: www.cullinansdoolin.com/index.htm
O'Connor's Farmhouse: www.oconnorsdoolin.com/
Nellie Dee's: www.nelliedees-doolin.com/
Dubhlinn House: www.dubhlinnhouse.com/
Dunroman House: www.doolinlink.com/dunroman.html

Kilkenny:

Alcantra: homepage.eircom.net/~alcantra/
Cnoc Mhuire: homepage.eircom.net/~cnocmhuire/
Auburndale: homepage.eircom.net/~auburndale/
Fanad House: www.fanadhouse.com

Killarney:

Killarney Lodge: www.killarneylodge.net/
Friar's Glen: indigo.ie/~fullerj/
Old Weir Lodge: www.oldweirlodge.com/

Now you are all set!

Michele

P.S. Cullinan's Restaurant is open through October. There web site gives details if you click on "Restaurant".

ck on B&Bs

Thanks, it's nice to know that you have stayed in these places and like them - that is always a plus when going into the unknown. In Doolin, because i couldn't find Cullinan's at first, i really looked for things overlooking the water and other interesting points - because i think by the 7th day we will be tired and wanting to stay around the B&B and look at the view - that's why i thought these two looked good:
*1Seaview House (1996)
www.ireland-doolin.com/rates.html
*2Doonagore Farmhouse
www.doolin-accommodation.com

Have you stayed in either of these places? They looked really nice but you never know. I know the Seaview was built in 1996 - but that really doesn't matter much at that point....anything else to say about those particular two - anybody stayed there?

FYI

Hi stannseniors,

Just a heads up on the B&Bs that I recommended to you. I have not stayed in all of them. The ones listed in my book, yes, I have stayed in. However, every year I inspect a number of places and the ones that pass this initial inspection I feel confident to recommend on the forum. I will subsequently stay at the ones that passed inspection in the future to see if they might go into my book.

I have not inspected Seaview House (no one was at home -- very steep steps up to the house) or Doonagore Farmhouse (not right in Doolin). Another alternative for a wonderful place overlooking the ocean is Drumcreehy House in Ballyvaughan. I think you will be quite pleased with this guesthouse. And Ballyvaughan is a nice little town.

Cnoc Mhuire in Kilkenny

I stayed at Cnoc Mhuire in Kilkenny last May. I found it to be very nice, in a good location, easy to find. Nice room with private bath. The hosts have loads of information and advice on the area. Nice breakfasts, too! -Carrie

Re: Cnoc Mhuire in Kilkenny

Hi Carrie,

Thanks for your recommendation of Cnoc Mhuire in Kilkenny. I inspected it last May and liked what I saw. It's good to know that you enjoyed your stay there. I plan on staying there in the future and if it passes that inspection I will put it into my book. We appreciate your feedback.

Michele
