Bus from Bunratty to Limerick Our 2004 trip has finally been confirmed, May 5th to May 22nd. (Our friends that we hoped would go with us couldn't bring themselves to commit this far in advance so we are going by ourselves.) We had enough Delta Skymiles to fly coach for free (Yippee!) but we had to adjust our dates and as a result we'll be there for 16 days. We can only cover the car rental insurance with Mastercard for 15 days. We plan to stay at a B&B in Bunratty the 14th night, turn the car in early on the 15th day, take the bus from the airport to Limerick, spend the day there and take the bus back to Bunratty for the last night at the same B&B. After looking at the Bus Eireann site, I'm totally confused. Michelle, do you know where the bus stop is located in the Bunratty area? And I see that there are lots of stops in Limerick. Do you know where we should get off in Limerick to be convenient to touring the town on foot? Where could we plan to catch the bus back to Bunratty that wouldn't involve doubling back too much? And lastly, will we have any problem arranging for a taxi to pick us up at our B&B at 6:30 or 7:00 the last morning? Our flight is at 9:40. Even though I know there is a 3 hour cushion recommended for arrival at the airport, I really don't think it will be necessary. On our trip this year we ended up waiting around for over an hour after we checked in. So I figure we ought to be at the airport by 7:00-7:30. Do you think that's early enough? Thanks so much. Martha
That's great that your trip is confirmed and the flight is free! May is my favorite month in Ireland.
I suggest contacting Bus Eireann for all the answers to your various questions. Since I always have a car I don't take the bus around Limerick. Go to this page to contact them: www.buseireann.ie/site/ho...act_us.asp
Probably the stop to get off at in Limerick would be near the tourist office. Then you can go directly in and get all the info you need. Besides brochures they have walking maps, walking tours, etc. Nearby the tourist office is Arthur's Quay shopping area and the Hunt Museum. A little farther away is the King's Island area with King John's Castle and St. Mary's Cathedral.
For your morning taxi to the airport, you should call and arrange for the taxi the day before. Your B&B should be able to do that for you. Unless there are big changes with security between now and May I think you are safe getting to the airport by 7-7:30.

bus from bunratty to Limmerick In Limmerick, I got the bus at the main bus station, and as I remember, it had several stops in the city of Limmerick. In Bunratty, it stopped near a hotel, and as I remember, there is a signed bus stop. I didn't pay that much attention, because I was taking the bus to the airport.
If the taxi is too expensive, the bus does stop right in front of Aer Lingus at Shannon.
