Company-Small Escorted Tours of ireland?

I have located a company which will drive my small party around in a Mercedes Touring car. I am not comfortable doing my own driving on the "wrong" side of the road. The company is:
Small Escorted Tours of Ireland
Danesfort, Kilkenny
www.irelandescorted.com
Has anyone had any experience with this company?
Does anyone know of any minibus type tours of Ireland?
I am not interested in the big bus thing with 40-50 people.

Small Tour

Hi Bob,

Exactly how many people are going with you? I had a look at the web site for Ireland Escorted Tours and their credentials looked good on this page: www.irelandescorted.com/f...ences.html

I also highly recommend 1 2 Travel. They are a great Irish travel agency that can put everything together for you including airfare, tour, car/van driver, etc. Whatever you want, they can do. Click here for their web site: 1 2 Travel Be sure to mention IrelandYes.com for extra special care and attention.

Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Michele

Ireland trip

I recently thoroughly enjoyed my small exclusive trip with Vagabond tours. It is a very small group of people ( max at 10, I think) who are escorted on either a 3, 4, or 5 day tours into the Connemara or Southwest Ireland (Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula) I did back to back tours over a 10 day period. Rob, the owner and driver, takes the group around in his converted British Land Rover and takes the group to all of the out of the way places that tour buses cannot go. The group is made up of travelers who love to travel to "off the beaten track" type of places. It is relatively inexpensive and you can check out the website at:

Re: Ireland trip

Gulliver:

That does look interesting. They seem to get a lot jammed into a day and it's a darn shame they don't just start in the west, but as tours go, at least the idea appeals to me more than most.

When we were there last year - we met a couple from Michigan who said they had hired a car for the whole vacation. They picked them up every morning whenever they wanted and drove them wherever they had planned. The wife had said it's not that much more $ when you consider the car rental and gas....i don't know much more about it but it sounds like a great idea!

Tours

Gulliver, Thanks for your recommendation of Vagabond. I remember it from your trip report. It sounds ideal for some people.

stannseniors, Yes, hiring a chauffeur can be a good way to tour Ireland especially when the cost is split by two couples.

Bob, I have done a little research and have found some glowing reviews for Small Escorted Tours of Ireland. I hope you find just the right one for your group.

Thanks all for making my forum a fun place to get info about Ireland! :D

Michele
