Clare and Galway Suggestions?

Hello Michelle, and thank you for this forum!

My wife and I are going to Ireland Mar. 10 to the 18th (over St. Patrick's day). We'll be coming into Shannon and have a reservation for a few days at Daly House in Doolin. After that I was planning on basing out of Galway or Salthill (ending with the St. Patrick's Day parade there). Any recommendations for a B&B in that area?

I'm also looking for suggestions on what to do. The Burren (I look forward to checking out megalithic tombs and ring forts!), the Cliffs of Moher are already sure things. We're interested in history, outdoors and market days and are are pretty loose intinerary type folks, who like to wake up and decide for our day spontaneously. Galway is more of a question mark for me at the moment.

I look forward to providing a write up when we return!

Re: Clare and Galway Suggestions?

Hi David,

Welcome to my forum. I would recommend Marless House in Salthill. But book soon as Mary tends to fill up quickly at all times of the year. Tell her that "Michele says hello".

You can do many day trips from the Galway area:

Connemara
Cong
Westport
Aran Islands
Clonmacnoise
Achill Island (this is a stretch but I have done it and it takes all day)

If you get beautiful weather in Doolin you might also enjoy Loop Head, which is far less touristy than the Cliffs of Moher.

Enjoy your trip!

Michele
