Shamrocker vs Paddy Wagon vs Vagabond 4x4, etc??? I'll be traveling alone in Ireland for 3 days this April and wonder what tour company offers the best tours. I would like to meet some fun people and travel around and experience as much as possible. Any thoughts regarding the above operators or others?
Thanks!

Tours I almost took a six day Paddy Wagon tour(I have read good reviews of them), but the problem with these tours is they only leave twice a week, Monday and Saturday generally. Instead I did a number of day trips. Where in Ireland are you going to be for these three days? Are you just trying to fill three days before joining other people or are you only going to be in Ireland for three days?

Tours I'm meeting a friend on the continent later in the week and decided to fly through Dublin. The reason why these tours are appealing is because they seem really easy. I don't have a lot of time or money to research how I would go about exploring on my own. It looks like the 3 day paddy wagon southern tour would work with my schedule, as would the Shamrocker Western Rocker. I'm not sure about the vagabond tours. Thoughts?
Re: Shamrocker vs Paddy Wagon vs Vagabond 4x4, etc??? Hi Jossyv,
Vagabond has been highly recommended by Gulliver on the "I'm Back" section of my forum. To read all about his tour click here: pub158.ezboard.com/firela...D=93.topic I have also heard good things about Paddywagon.
Probably the tour you take will be the one that best coincides with your dates in Ireland. You could also base in Dublin and do day trips from there. There are many tours that will take you for the day south into the Wicklow Mountains and north to Newgrange, etc. The following links may be of help:
Thank you both for your thoughts! It sounds like all of my options are great ones. Should be a great trip!
Thanks again for the help, J

Tours If you decide to do day trips out of Dublin I went on one with Irish Rover tours. It was the best day trip I did, and it was the one out to Newgrange. I did six or seven day trips while I was in Ireland, but this company was the best as far as the well informed guide and the number of stops and the small group size. The day trip idea might be better for you since the one thing I have heard about these other tours is that they can be quite rushed, especially the shorter ones. If you are going to be in Dublin for three days there are several day trips you could choose to do. You could just do two day trips out of the city then spend one day seeing Dublin. The Newgrange trip, and the Glendalough/Wicklow tours are the most popular.

Ireland trip I have not taken the other tours but I did take two of the Vagabond trips last summer. I did peruse the Vagabond web site this morning to see what is new and I now see that they have 3, 4 and 5 day tours which leave out of Dublin. My review really says it all and I would go back and re-do a tour with Vagabond again.(In fact, I am considering doing another tour with Vagabond to Southwest Ireland this summer) Rob, the owner and driver is pure delight and you meet some real interesting people on these tours. The travelers we have met have ranged in age between 25-60 and come from all walks of life. The tours are relatively inexpensive, you stay in inexpensive but very clean and nice B & B's and eat mainly Pub Grub. The web site for Vagabond is www.vagabond-ireland.com. Have a wonderful stay in Ireland.
