We are looking forward to our trip to Ireland in a few weeks. We will be visiting Powerscourt, how far away is the waterfall from the house/gardens? Is it within walking distance?
Also, has anyone rented a cell phone from "Rent a phone Ireland"?
Thank you. The knowledge that I have gained from this forum "priceless"!
I have never actually measured how far it is from the main Powerscourt Gardens to the waterfall. However, it is a drive of perhaps five or ten minutes. So the waterfall is not right adjacent to the gardens.
I haven't rented a phone from the mentioned company. Perhaps someone else has and will comment.
Enjoy your trip in a few weeks. We would love to hear about it when you return.

Re: Powerscourt Waterfall mldmv:
I have a cell phone that I purchased for overseas travel. It's cheaper than renting if you are there for a couple of weeks or more. I have topped a dissertation I wrote in response to a question last year. It's labeled "cell phones in ireland?"
It is cheaper to get a phone card than to use cell phones, but when you're on a boat or traveling in different cars as we were, the cell phones were life savers.
We are leaving elderly parents behind, having a cell phone will help ease our minds.
Also, I really enjoyed your post about your last trip. As we are planning our first trip to Ireland, it was wonderful to see some of your pictures. You had quite an adventure.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Powerscourt Marcia
I'm glad the info on the phones helped. We have let others use the phones on their adventures also so they are nice to have.
Last year certainly was an adventure. I usually get in trouble when I travel. That's the fun part. In fact, I've decided to make it a goal to try to find something silly to do each year. Wonder what trouble I can get in this year.
Here is the link to the 2002 trip. Not quite as dangerous but it was fun.
Thanks for sharing your 2002 trip journal. I really enjoyed hearing about your trip, and looking at your photos. The waterfall photos are absolutely beautiful!

Re: Powerscourt I seemed to have been on a waterfall quest on that trip. I did miss the one at Powerscourt, but it would have been a Saturday and we decided it would be more fun to get lost going in a different direction. We still stumbled across an interesting set of falls.
The Powerscourt waterfall (the highest in Ireland or the British Isles) is south of Dublin in Enniskerry Co. Wicklow in the Powerscourt Gardens estate.
