6 days, into Shannon, out of Dublin

Michelle,

I have really enjoyed reading this forum, and I feel guilty asking for advice rather than paying for planning assistance, so I will try to narrow down my questions.

- We arrive at Shannon around noon on May 29.
- Rental car is booked, we pick it up at the airport.
- First night is unknown.
- We have booked the 30th at the Captain's House in Dingle.
- May 31 and June 1 are unknown.
- Turn in car in Dublin on June 2. Depart from Dublin June 3.
- We have not yet booked our Dublin room on the last night, but I am not too worried about that one.

I need help filling in our itinerary. There are so many options! Should we head into Clare from the airport or make our way south into Kerry? Where to stay? Should we spend 2 nights in Dingle? And we have 2 days/nights to make our way from Dingle to Dublin. What to do? Every guidebook and website has different suggestions.

We do not have any particular special interests to guide our options. We just want to make the most of our limited time!

June 6 is a Bank Holiday. That means that June 3-6 is a long holiday weekend. Best to make your reservations for Friday June 3 in Dublin ASAP!

If you are like most people landing in Shannon you probably want to take a look at the Cliffs of Moher so it makes sense to spend your first night on the coast of Clare. About 1 1/2 hours drive from Shannon. There is plenty to see in the area.

It would be very tempting to spend two days in Dingle. If you get good weather it is an idylic place to be in Ireland.

From Dingle you should be looking for something halfway to Dublin. You probably have some ideas of what you would like to see. Also, take a look at my "Sightseeing" page and my "Top 10 List" as that might help with decision-making.

Thank you for the prompt reply and good advice. We will stay in Clare on night one, then on to Dingle. After the first night we will decide whether to extend our stay or start making our way towards Dublin.
