I have found your site and immediately got thrilled with your comments and smart advice! Believe it or not, I have been waiting for this trip to happen for my entire life, and this trip is my dreams come true! Actually, my wife wanted to surprise me and suggested to take this journey for my birthday.
After contacting travel agency this is what they suggested as individual organized tour which could be changed according to our wishes however, the length of stay cannot be changed.
Since we are first time visitors, we would greatly appreciate if you could take a look at our itinerary and provide us with your useful suggestions and comments. So, here it is! Thank you all!!!!

Welcome to my forum. Your plan sounds fine. Are you departing from Shannon Airport? I assume you are driving yourself when you leave Dublin but taking bus day tours? What time of year are you going?
Hi Michelle! Thank you for replying so quickly! We are departing from Dublin airport. According to this plan, they have transportation throughout the entire trip organized for us so we would not have to drive ourselves (and not sure if we would dare to on the left side of the road :). Our arrival to Dublin is planned to happen on April 16 this year (exactly on my birthday!!! yeaaaah). Would it be possible to visit Aran islands while in Galway? Thanks a bunch!
Since your last night in Ireland is in Galway I assume your tour company will drive you across country and to Dublin Airport on departure day?
Seeing the Aran Islands requires a day. If you want to skip either Connemara or Burren/Cliffs of Moher you could substitute the islands instead. However, since it is a pre-paid tour I would stick with the schedule as it is. Maybe you can return again some day to see more of Ireland.
Sounds like a fun way to celebrate your birthday. I hope you have a great trip.
that is correct, they will drive us to Dublin airport. I cannot wait for this trip-the best way ever to celebrate my birthday! Thank you so much for your advice, we will stick then to this schedule, however, if you have any suggestions for us, things we could do or certain places we can visit please send us your comments! Best regards!
I spent my 50th birthday in Roundstone and my 52nd birthday in Westport- there is nothing else like in Miro. You will have a fantastic birthday to remember!
Beautifully and poetically said Green Dragon. Thank you very much for a lovely comment Do you perhaps have some suggestion were to go out while we are in Dublin, some pub or restaurant maybe, I would like to surprise my wife and take her out. However, she likes to smoke cigarettes sometimes, so does anybody here perhaps know anything about rules and regulations regarding this?
In Dublin you might enjoy this: Food, Folk & Fairies Night at the Brazen Head. There is no smoking inside anywhere in Ireland. However, most pubs and have outside areas specially designed for smokers.
thank you very much for the information, you are really kind. I checked out the site of the Brazen Head and it looks like a great place for an unforgettable experience so I think we will definitely visit it. I will leave our thoughts and comments about Brazen Head on your site after we visited it. Do you perhaps have a similar recommendation for us while we are in Galway (pubs, restaurants, museums). Sorry for bothering you this much but we would really appreciate any advice because this will be our first (hopefully not last) visit to Ireland.
In Galway An Pucan and The Crane are good pubs with music. What types of restaurants do you like? There are so many different kinds to choose from in Galway.
We just love Irish folk music so we would prefer pubs and restaurants where we can listen to the music and have something to eat in a relaxing atmosphere.
Thanks a lot for all your help Michelle, and I'me sure we'll have a great time thanks to your advices.
I'm just going to throw in my two cents worth with regard to music in Galway...
We like to listen to music at traditional pubs like you do, but The Crane has some really great music that you may not find anywhere else! If you go to their website (http://www.thecranebar.com/), you can see what their schedule is. You can even sign up to receive e-mail updates if you care to.
Another favorite of ours in Galway City is Tig Coili. We have sat for hours listening to sessions there! It's right downtown on Mainguard Street, near High Street and Shop Street, so it's very convenient.
We also enjoyed music at Tig Coili, they even had an early session on a Sat. night around 6PM. Also Taaffes Pub had some great music. I agree that the Crane is the best, music venues on the ground floor and upstairs at the same time in Aug of 09!. Dan
Thank you Kate and thank you too Murphy for your suggestions. I checked out The Crane's website and its really usefull. Question: can I just go to The Crane and by ticket at the door without problem or would it be better to make some reservations in advance and buy tickets online?
Ticket? its a pub. just walk in off the street. If there is an event upstairs requiring tickets I would assume you buy at the door. I have never paid to go in nor would I, there's enough going on in town for free, see my link above. Mid April could break into Easter so there might be even more happening.

Thanks Tony, I asked about tickets because I visited the website of The Crane and saw that they offer tickets for purchase online. But like you said there is plenty going on around town for free. I checked out also Taaffes and Tig Coili on the internet and those look like a great places to have fun and listen to some good traditional music .
Brazen head is a great place - oldest pub in Dublin! We had a fantastic lunch at the Bull & Castle pub across from Dublinia - wonderful sandwiches and pear cider :)

Yes, the Brazen head looks really interesting. I think we will definitely visit it. Maybe we will also take a look at the Bull & Castle pub to check out those sandwiches and cyder.
