Banquets

Michelle - I have contacted Bunratty/Knappogue/Dunguaire banquet reservations directly and there is nothing available on the dates we're in Limerick. Do you know of another way to secure tickets? Thanks.

Re: Banquets

mjmahoney,

Where are you staying in the area? Many of the B&B owners have an "in" with the people who book the banquets. I suggest contacting your host. If something is not available get on the "stand-by" list. Cancelations do happen. As an alternative consider Bunratty Irish Night Ceili in the corn barn at Bunratty Folk Park. It is very enjoyable.

banquet

That's frustraing about not finding tickets but Michele suggested the Ceili ---- We liked the Ceili better than the banquet - you get music, food, song and even some Irish dance - it makes you really feel like you're really in Ireland and experiencing a little history.....

stannseniors,

I will have to admit that I am partial to the Ceili too.

Bunratty banquet

I have to admit I was disappointed with the Bunratty banquet. I was there in April and our group had most places, including Bunratty Castle & Park, almost to ourselves.

The banquet was jam packed --- you could barely move your arms to eat. The food was mediocre at best and the entertainment only so-so. I wished we had tried the Ceili or even just a pub with some good trad music.

That said, the rest of my group really enjoyed the evening, so I guess it's really a matter of personal taste. My point is: I hope you get tickets if that's what you want to do, but don't feel too awful if you can't get into one of the banquets. There are other activities you would probably enjoy just as much.

Crowded Banquets

Maggie,

I must agree that the banquets really pack people in like sardines. Especially Bunratty. For a less crowded one try Dunguaire.

Re: pub

stannseniors,

You were very close! It's Mac's Pub in the folk park. They also do good lunches.
