Renting Condo for longer stays w/ kids in tow

What do you think of renting a condo or small apt. for longer stays w/ children ages 10 and 13? Would it be more cost effective? If we did two weeks, (one week at each locale) what are the best destinations/cities? For the kids, we prefer some cultural activities (singing, dancing)and/ or educational experiences possibly w/ animals. I've heard of some working sheep and horse farms where you can visit. We're not too interested in the things we could do at home in CA. - i.e. the zoo, etc. The kids also enjoy sports and the beach. Thank you in advance. We have a whole year to plan.

Irisheyes,

Renting a self-catering unit in Ireland is an excellent idea when traveling with kids. One area that is very central for seeing the southwest is Killarney. Since Killarney is inland with beautiful mountains and lakes your next stay would probably be near the sea. The coast of west Clare is lovely as is the Connemara area (west of Galway). Go to my "Links" page and under accommodations you will find links to self-catering in Ireland. Start browsing for places to stay. Remember most rent from Saturday to Saturday. In the off-season some rent for mid-week or weekends.
