Self-catering Accommodations

Jane,

I do not review self-catering places, only B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels. With tens of thousands of places to stay in Ireland it would, of course, be impossible for any one person to see them all. However, I had a look at the website and they seem to be brand new self-catering accommodations with a 4-star rating located in Castlegregory. Since they are brand new and have a high rating I think you are safe. You will have to let us know your impressions when you return. If I can help with any other questions, feel free to post again.

Michele

Thanks so much for the prompt reply, Michele.
I bought your wonderful book from you last fall -- we had hoped to make our trip Spring this year. Should we go with the Tralee Bay Holiday Village self-catering...I'll be sure to let you know our impressions. Thanks again.

Re: accommodations

Jane,

I'm glad you are finally getting to your Ireland trip. The only comment I would add about the Castlegregory area is that it is in a very quiet area on the north shore of the Dingle Peninsula. If you get good weather there are beach activities but you can't count on that. If you are planning on doing lots of day trips around the southwest you might find Killarney or Kenmare to be more centrally located and have a lot more things like restaurants, pubs, activities, etc. But if it is quiet that you are looking for Castlegregory might be just the ticket.

How long will you have for your trip?

Michele

P.S. Thanks for your kind comments about my book.

If we stay in a B@B as a family, what can we expect in the way of sleeping arrangements? There are 4 of us... a teen girl and a 10 yr. old boy. Our children are too old to share a room.

Accommodations

irisheyes,

Many B&Bs have family rooms that accommodate three or more people. But I think you are saying that the kids are too old to stay with the parents. Right? In that case can they share a room with each other? If so, you can just book two rooms at a B&B. One for the parents and one for the kids. Be sure to request a twin room for the kids as it will have two beds.
