Ireland for children

My family (me, husband, 3 & 1 year olds, and my parents) will be visiting Cobh/Cork area at the end of Aug for 10 days. Previous visit was 5 years ago sans children. Can you suggest any activities or places to go that our 3 yr old boy would like? Anything within a 2-3 hr drive is okay and we'll have a sitter available to watch the 1 yr if the activity isn't suitable for her. Many thanks.

kid activities

Hi Rose,
I haven't been to Ireland yet, so I'm sure there are people who can help you here. I did find a neat book called: Take the kids - Ireland by Amy Corzine. Perhaps you can find it at the library. Whatever you do, simple is always best w/ young kids.

Cork/Cobh for Children

Rose,

There are plenty of beaches around if the weather cooperates. The kids will love that. Even if the water is too cold they can putter around on the shore with buckets and sand. Some other options:

Fota Wildlife Park
Cork Heritage Park: animals, petting zoo & kids activity center
Boat ride from Kinsale
Charles Fort (Kinsale)
Mizen Head: the suspension footbridge and the 99 steps
Perks Family Entertainment Center (Youghal): rides, bowling, ghost train, ice cream parlor etc.
Boat ride past the seals to Garinish Island & Ilnacullin Gardens
Swimming pools in Cork

Michele
