I am starting to plan a trip to Irleand for late May beginning of June. I am on a gluten free diet (no wheat, oats, barley or rye) Can you give me infomation about food in Ireland that will be safe for me to eat. Thanks!

Ireland has a high level of Coeliac sufferers and your first point of contact could be the CSI who will be able to advise you on any needs,

Amy,

Ireland is one of the top five, I believe, countries where Coeliac is prevalent.

Most of the restaurants in your major hub cities will have Glutren-free offerings on the menu. Druid Lane in Galway has Gluten Free offerings. Kilkenny Restaurant in Dublin is one on which I have heard positive feedback. Eason's in Cork is another. Its a Bagel, a Bagel chain found in Dublin, has gluten-free bagels and soups/salads. O'Connell's, also in Dublin, is highly touted as being Gluten-free friendly.

I often use Georgina Campbell's link for helping people find places to eat whilst traveling in Ireland. Here it is and I hope you find it helpful.

Bit

Amy,

As Tony and Bit have said Ireland is very Coelaic friendly. I even know of a B&B in Dingle that does gluten-free desserts and breakfasts. In the supermarkets there are plenty of gluten-free products. Most restaurants are sensitive to your needs. So just make your needs known to them and you will be catered to.
