Genealogical Research Service

Hello,

I found a Genealogical Research Service on the exploringireland.net website.  Do you know of anyone who has used this service and or can provide any insight as to credibility?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Sincerely,

Chicky

Chicky,

I don't know them. On the bottom of their webpage it says they are listed by Failte Ireland and that they are members of ASTA. That is easy enough to check on.

This is great.  I prefer to have options to select from, in order to make an informed decision.  Much appreciated.

Regards.

Christy - if you do find a researcher, I would be interested in how it goes.   I met a lady at a genealogy conference once who led family history tours to Ireland and always wanted to go on one - but she has passed on, so I have to figure it out on my own.

Michelle, Chicky, this may be of interest to you.  Article from Dick Eastman's genealogy newsletter about collections now available online at the Irish Archives:

http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2011/03/irelands-archive-collections-go-online.html#more
According to Dick's article, if something isn't online, archive will tell you where it can be physically access.

Jackie, I have reached out to 2 of the researchers on the list.  I will post how it goes.  I have a trip to Ireland planned for September, my hope is to be able to visit family sites while there.  I haven't heard from either yet.  But I have time so I will give it some more time before reaching out to others.  Thank you again for your assistance.

Regards,
Cristina

There are several areas which have regional Heritage centres, many with their own Genealogy departments. It can sometimes be useful to contact these places for information.
