We leave for Ireland Monday, so here are a couple of questions with regards to schedule.
We plan to stay Tuesday - Thursday in Doolin. We have our B & B reserved. We plan on trying to see the Cliffs, Aran Islands (weather and tide permitting), the Burren and perhaps Connemara. Does this seem reasonably doable (Is that even a word??).
Secondly, please give your thoughts on this one. I am speaking at a church in Ballincollig (near Cork City) on Sunday. We want to see Dingle and perhaps the ring of Kerry. Would we be better off staying an extra day in Doolin and driving to Dingle and back or is that too far? Would we be better off to drive Friday to Dingle, stay the night, and then sightsee and drive on over to Ballincolling Saturday? (I would prefer to be there Saturday night to make Sunday morning a bit easier, but I am not opposed to staying somewhere on the way).
Hope this all makes sense. We have, or course, rented a car, so that will be our mode of travel.
You all are great! Thanks for all the help!!
Mark

I think you might need the Ros a' Mhíl ferry to the Arans, the Doolin ferries are not scheduled to run until April. Doolin to Clifden via Roundsone and back via Kylemore Abbey is a full day's tour and I would go for the Friday in Dingle option.

Thanks, Tony. There is one ferry operator in Doolin that started on March 1st. I spoke with them and, of course, everything depends on tide and weather and so on. I'll definitely look at Ros a' Mhíl as another option though.
Thanks again!

Given the shorter days, I would have probably booked a night in Galway and two in Doolin to facilitate seeing the Connemara region and the Aran day trip. A Connemara day trip will make for a full day from Doolin, to be sure. It is doable, just a long day. Likewise, utilizing the Rossaveal Ferry to Inis Mor would necessitate an early morning departure from Doolin, as Rossaveal lies West and North of Galway City and morning traffic will be heavier during the weekdays.
I would definitely opt for Friday night in Dingle and then your Saturday night in Ballincolling. If you don't yet have lodgings set, I was quite pleased with Westerfield House when I stayed there overnight.
"Johnny don't go to Ballincollig Where you always get so disappointed Johnny don't go Johnny don't go to Carragaline I'm not coming with you this time You only go there to get let down Johnny don't go, Johnny don't go Johnny don't go, stay in town

It would probably be BEST if you didn't sing this while there, but then again, people in Cork really DO love them some John Spillane!!!
