I am American and not used to driving on the left side of the road. How can we travel to Omagh from Belfast airport without lots of city driving? Is there a bus line or train that gets close to Omagh that also has a car rental there so we could rent a car to travel onto the Bluegrass Fesival in Omagh.
Welcome to my forum. Glad to hear you are visiting Northern Ireland for the Bluegrass Festival.
Belfast International Airport is in Aldergrove and is actually out in the countryside. It is on the east side of Lough Neagh just south of Antrim town. I suggest you rent a car at the airport because you really won't have to do any city driving.
There are two different ways to go. One would be north to Antrim, around the top of the lake and then west to Omagh. The other is to go south to Moira and Lurgan, around the bottom of the lake, and west to Omagh. With either route there is a bit of motorway driving. But the roads and motorway are all good. If you are not careful with the route going south it is easy to get sucked into Belfast. You need to watch the signs carefully and if you miss any, turn around immediately to be sure of where you are going. So perhaps the northern route would be easier for not getting lost.
