At the end of September you are on the Winter Bus schedule and will have problems with both Dingle and Doolin.  I would not do Dingle without a car especially out of season and Doolin will also be severely limited.

I don't want to put you off on your very first post but I would reconsider you locations given that you will need some form of transport.

fey,

Welcome to my forum. At the end of September you would be much better off basing in places from which you can get day tours. You will also need to check on said tours ahead of time. Some good bases would be Galway, Dublin and Killarney. Toward the end of the season the tours can become more limited.

Fey,

It looks like you have twelve days on the ground, is that correct?

If you've not yet done so, I would suggest that you take a look at Paddywagon. They offer tours designed for the younger set. They are all inclusive and affordable.

Looking at your outlined Itinerary, You can take the train to Kilkenny, Killarney and Galway. However, as others have stated, bus schedule will be sketchy to both Dingle and Doolin. If you are set on seeing either of those two, as Michele stated, you would be better off basing in Killarney and taking a day trip to Dingle and basing in Galway and taking a day-trip to Doolin & the Cliffs of Moher.  Personally, I wouldn't want to spend precious time, possibly all day, on a bus to get to the remote areas when there is so much to see in the areas surrounding the hub cities. There is beauty to be had around every bend and in every nook and cranny of Ireland. YOu don't have to go to the remote spots to experience her beauty or find her real treasure, friendly locals.

Bit

fey,

Take a look at my Transport page for links to bus/rail/ferry travel in Ireland. There is no train to Doolin. There is no ferry from Doolin to Dingle. If you won't have a car, your best bases for your trip will be Galway, Killarney, Kilkenny and Dublin.

As Bit has said, if you want to stay in places like Doolin and Dingle you will be hostage to timetables and buses.
