Keep perscriptions in their original packaging with original labels, and make sure the information matches your identification. Do that and you should have not problems. If you have a particular medication your concerned about, talk to your pharmacist.

Welcome to my forum. As Corey said, that is the correct way to do things. You could also bring the printout you get from the pharmacy if you want. My husband has never been challenged for his prescriptions ever. But be on the safe side just in case.

Just one more piece of advice with your prescriptions... If the medication is not something like allergy medication or high blood pressure meds or something well-known along those lines, you might also want to get a note from your physician stating what the medication is and what it's treating. I had difficulty with a prescription that I was taking temporarily for a skin problem, but I had a note from the physician. (See http://dublin.usembassy.gov/service/medical-services/medication.html)

Also, if any of the medications you take are considered narcotic, you may not be able to take them at all. A friend of ours had to dispose of her pain medications (I'm sorry, I don't recall what she was taking), because Irish Customs would not allow them.

I'm not trying to make you paranoid. For most general medications, if you follow what Corey and Michele said, you'll be fine. I've not had anyone even look twice at my allergy meds and asthma medications. My mom had no trouble with any of her medications either (and she has about 6 prescriptions, but none of them considered narcotics).

If you have questions, you can always contact an Irish Embassy. They would probably be able to answer questions about a particular medication, or they would be able to point you in the right direction.

I wouldn't stress TOO much. On Arrival, just follow the signs for "Nothing To Declare" and use the advice the others have already given.

In thirteen visits, over the last 12 years, Irish Customs have only manned my Entrance Lane 2 or 3 times -- and they were busy chatting to each other, THEN! biggrin

Other than a pleasant smile and nod, the only time that I had any interaction with Customs was the year we flew into Cork from Amsterdam and underwent a 'Sniff-In-Passing' by the resident Drug Detecting Beagle !!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin

I WAS questioned/ interviewed ONCE -- in Dublin -- Prior to Bag Check -- and they DID open and examine the contents of our luggage --- BUT, interestingly, THEY were only concerned with the bags we intended to Check In -- NOT our Carry Ons.

It CLEARLY was a 'Random' thing, though, and that was on Departure.

Fifty trips to Ireland and I have never been stopped going through the green channel when entering Ireland. It is a completely random thing.
