Bunratty to Kenmare

We are spending the night in Bunratty then driving back to our house in Kenmare.

We will see the folk park and the banquet on the prior day. what would be good places to stop and visit on our drive from Bunratty to Kenmare? Is King John's castle worth a visit?  The reviews weren't that great.

Thanks,

Eileen

Eileen,

Since you will most likely have already seen Bunratty Castle & Folk Park you will probably find King John's Castle less interesting. If you like museums the Hunt Museum in Limerick is interesting. You might want to stop for photos in Adare and take a walk through town and to the park. Adare Manor has gardens.

I would be tempted to forget King Johns and take the Tunnel then the N69 past the Foynes Flying Boat Museum and on to Listowel which is a fine Heritage town rates amongst my favourite places. The next town being Tralee and then Killarney before Kenmare.

Eileen,

If at all interested in the history of trans-atlantic flight you will be fascinated by the Foynes Flying Boat Museum, as suggested by Tony. Now your only problem is choosing what to see and do.
