Read your to-do list...wow!

Just a comment about Beara, and Dursey Cable Car. We left our B&B in Kenmare after an 8AM seating for breakfast. We didn't dally around much, but went over the pass, then up the south side of Beara to Dursey, stopping just a few times for photos. Needless to say, we should have hurried there to catch the 11:00 cable car....we got ther at 11:30, and the next one didn't run till 1PM or later ( a lunch break, I think)....didn't want to wait around that long, so it might be best to try to find out what the summer cable car schedule is, if you are really set on taking it, so that you can plan to be there with not having a long wait. I regret not researching it better before we went. It would have been so cool...... Dan

You are a trooper! As you know, some of the days cram a lot in. But you already know that and will play it by ear. At some places some of the people might choose to rest in the car while others are exploring. Maybe take a small neck pillow for comfort?

When you mentioned Mitchelstown Caves it brought to mind the one and only time I was there. I think it was on one of my first visits. I felt like Alice going down the rabbit hole because that is exactly what the entrance was like. A mud hole with a ladder going down into darkness. It was very small - and I was thin back then! An old farmer took us down along with a bus load of little girls and a couple of nuns. The only lighting was his flashlight and it started getting dimmer and dimmer and flickering on and off. This alarmed the little girls (and me). They started singing hymns and the nuns were crossing themselves. I guess it worked because we all made it back into daylight okay. But we sure didn't see much from that flickering flashlight. A candle would have worked better.

Murphy, I know its a busy schedule. I'll need a break after my vacation at this rate. I do know taht some things will fall to the wayside due to other enticements, the groups need to recharge, etc. Thanks for the Beara tip. I think we did teh afternoon one when I went last time, less likely to be crowded in with livestock then.

Tony, I can almost smells the bread and the scones! What a treat that would be! As the only day we would have forKilfenora is Sunday, we may have to pass on the festival. It is father's day and we have a memorial to do, which involves a boat, the Cliffs of Moher, a small vial or bagie of cremains and a flask of Jameson

Michele, I will now think of singing schoolchildren and singing nuns when we visit the caves! My question, do you see Barry as the Chesire cat or the Hookah smoking Caterpillar?

It apears that we will actually be in Cahir at the same time! Granted, YOU will be passing through -- toward the end of a LONG and undoubtably, tiring day --- yawn yawn

Whilst WE shall arrive there, Noon-ish, and will IMMEDIATELY 'sneak in' our customary, two-hour nap ... aww aww

We are staying at the Cahir House Hotel, in the Square, within sight of Cahir Castle -- I was tempted (briefly) to 'Roll The Dice' with Mrs. Butler at Carrigeen Castle, once again -- (We spent two relatively un-eventful nights there, in April of 2001) -- But, in the end, decided that for only our tired, First Night, that tempting the Fates wasn't such a good idea ... confuse

In any event -- hope ye have a Terrific -- and Successful -- Tour & Investigation .. biggrin

I certainly hope that you hear some of those pesky Faeries. The best part of visiting Ireland as you know is getting lost. Especially if you end up on some single track road that takes you to the sea.

Bob, we are playing it by ear as far as Cashel & Cahir, as both are within striking distance of our self-cater in Grenagh. A lot will depend on how the brother fares with the long flight and his energy levels.

CC, Faeries are never "pesky" persistent sometimes but never pesky. I have had some wonderful experiences because of listening to their directions.

Corey, it is more like "I can sleep when I die"...you know that I sleep very little at home

Roy, enjoy Inis Meáin. I think you will find that Cill Cheannanach will haunt your memory long after you have left. The two stone forts, Dún Fearbhaí and Dún Chonchúir, will likewise haunt your memory and capture your imagination. Dún Chonchúir gives you a vantage point to see the other two islands and is oval in shape. Dún Fearbhaí is closest to the pier and is unique in that it is almost square in design.
