Galway City - why is The Western Hotel not mentioned anywhere as 4 star except on its own website????

How is the Western Hotel, Prospect Hill in Galway City? It's a perfect location for my trip but Fodor's doesn't list them, nobody seems to list them!

Sorry but need to know ASAP - rooms going fast!

If Western's no good, can you recommend somewhere clean, quiet, about $100/night or less,  within walking distance of the Black Box Theatre, Dyke Road.

Thank you thank you!!

No personal info, but Trip Adviser and Hotels.com BOTH rate it 4 *.

It's a decent location -- you could also try the Meyrick or Eyre Square Hotel.

You might be hard pressed to find 4* for $100 -- particularly if there is a Festival, or on the weekend ...

Wow! Thanks for the speedy reply.

I only found the Western unrated or 3 stars (checked expedia and travelocity). Found some really bad reveiws - mixed in w/good reveiws for the Western. It's so difficult to decide.

Wl check out the Meyrick and Eyre Square Hotel. Had already looked at them but thought they might be too far away fm the Black Box.

But...The Western is just off the square and according to Google Maps is a 10 in walk to the theatre. I guess I could stay on the square and add just a few more feet to my walk.

Thanks so much!!

Sue,

Welcome to my forum. I was looking at the Western's website and it says "the Western Hotel holds one of the best Galway city centre hotel locations out of all luxurious three star hotels in the Galway".

I always recommend the Park House Hotel to those who want to stay right in the heart of the city. Doubt if you will get it for under 100 euro but it is excellent.

It might even have been me who pointed you at the Western on another forum. It is a perfectly good hotel but opt for one of the upgraded rooms.
