Trip for Golfers and non-golfers

Hi, Michele -

My husband and I are planning a trip with another couple.  The guys want to do some golfing and the women want to enjoy local cafes, scenery, sightseeing, etc.  Is there a route you would suggest to satisfy all of us?  Thank you!

Bella,

Welcome to my forum. Ireland has a lot of golf courses. The guys will be spoiled for choice.

How long will you be in Ireland? What is your arrival and departure point? Will you have a rental car? What sort of courses do the guys want to play? Parkland or links? Have the guys looked online at golfing in Ireland to determine where they want to play and how often?

Michele

Bella,

If you are flying into Shannon Airport I would suggest Killarney as a base for both the men and ladies. Killarney has it all, golf and beautiful scenery.

We stayed at a lovely house with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms that was the perfect location for what you are looking for. There was a nine-hole golf course within walking distance and five-18 hole courses within a ten minute drive. Near by is Ballybunion golf course which is rated as one of the top 10 courses in the world.

For the ladies Killarney has much to offer, day coach trips to the Dingle Peninsula, the Ring of Kerry, Ross Castle and boat trips around the Lakes of Killarney. Also a full day trip by pony and trap through the Gap of Dunloe with a boat trip back to Killarney.

The town of Killarney has many shops for what us ladies like to do best and many pubs for evening entertainment.

If you are interested in the house we stayed at, you can view the house at;
