sorry I haven't been on lately

Things have been hectic since our return from Ireland. My wife's second trip back took a change when her mother had a stroke shortly after our return. She is in the hospital in Mullingar. Her brother was also seriously ill and was in the hospital in Tullamore. He's back home in Co. Westmeath and doing well. It was quite a stressful trip for my wife. She has been back for a week now and hopefully I will have time to contribute to the forum.

Roy,

We are so sorry to hear about the health problems of your wife's family. How distressing to be so far away when these things happen. I'm glad to hear her brother is recovering. Hope her mother is doing better also. Are there other family members who are helping out in Ireland?

We often think of a trip to Ireland as being a happy time. But when bad things happen to family and friends there it can be very stressful. Keep us up to date on happenings. We wish you and your family well.

Michele

If it is any consolation my personal experience of Irish hospitals is that they are definitely on the ball and your relatives will be in good hands.

Well, Tony, my wifes take is a little different. My brother-in-law was sent home from Mullingar and ended up in Tullamore when he got critically sick. The family is looking into nursing home options for my mother-in-law at this point. Fortunately my sister-in-law in Longford is a nurse and knows what questions to ask. I am glad my wife got to see them on her second trip. Her brother is doing well.

In the meantime, I am starting to plan next years holiday. My wife wants to see the east.

Roy,

It is always good to have a medical professional in the family. They can often translate and act as a liason between doctors and hospital staff and family members. We hope your MIL continues to improve.
