Short Trip

Hello.  I am goig to be travelig to Ireland in Oct with my husband for a quick trip while in London.  We would fly to Ireland on Monday and need to leave no later then Friday.  Originally, I was thinking fly into Belfast (1 day), then Dublin (2days), then Cork then back to London,  but it seems fast and we won't see anything really.  Was wondering if you could recommend a better itienerary for someone who want to see Dublin but also the country side.  We won't have a car.  Would love to see the Dingle Peninsula or such.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

funtimes,

Welcome to my forum. You have to take two things into consideration with your trip:

1. Short time in Ireland
2. Public transportation and no car

Because of that my best advice would be to choose two spots such as Dublin & Belfast or Dublin & Galway or Dublin & Killarney. You can travel between them by train. In all of those places there are day tours you can take and lots to see locally. From Killarney you can easily do Dingle.

Now all you have to do is choose!

Thank you so much for your suggestions. This is exactly what I was looking for, your great. Now as you said " all I have t do is choose." Easier said then done. I'm leaning torwards Dublin & Galway or Dublin & Killarney. But at least now I can do more research and see what we come up with. One more questions would you do round trip flight out of Dublin or a one way into Dublin adn then out of the 2nd city?

Also, if we fly out of Killarney ( looks like they do not go to London Gatwick Airport, so if we decide to fly out of Shannon, is there a bus or train that can take us to the Shannon airport from Killarney?

Sorry for all the questions.  Really appreciate all your help.

Thanks again!

Cork might be the best airport to link Dublin in an arc. Far easier connections to Killarney and London.

funtimes,

Happy to help. If you decide on Dublin & Killarney Cork Airport would be best as you can take a train to Cork. Thanks for that Tony!
