Photo op Cliffs of Moher

We saw somewhere a photo spot that was south of the cliffs looking back at them. Cannot remember where it was but we would like to find it as my husband wants a shot from there. Anybody know where? Thanks!

There are some minor roads that head out toward Hag's Head. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of?

Thanks Michelle, we'll look into that suggestion.

I suggest a really good detailed ordnance survey map and/or stop and ask the locals.

OSI Discovery Series No 57 covers the Cliffs area, There are a few footpaths around Hags head and I am pretty sure that there is a walk detailed in Mike Hardings "Footloose in the West of Ireland" if you can find a library copy. I have lent mine out but should get it back the end of the month.

I called Ireland Tourism a couple of months ago to request a road map but have yet to receive it. Whet can I get a good map? We plan to do our own driving again next year. Tony, where can I order the one you suggest? Thanks again!

It is actually map 51 not 57 that covers the Cliffs 57 covers the area south of the cliffs.

To be honest unless you are planning wandering down tiny lanes then the complete Atlas might be the best option.

You can actually hike out to Hag's Head if you jump the wall at the Cliffs of Moher. But I'm too chicken to do that. Plus all the signs warn against it. The trail in some places is right on the cliff edge. If it gave way it's a very long way to the ocean below but will only take seconds!!

also consider the time of day... we found the cliffs mostly in their own shade in the morning...

YIKES! Michele - I was brave enough to cross the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge but I really want to make it to our 26th anniversary so I think I'll pass on the wall jumping.

Good suggestion - hadn't really thought about that yet.

Maybe you will have a great sunset photo to post here when you get back!
