Hi everyone! I hope you all had a very nice christmas. Now that the holidays are over, it's back to planning an awesome vacation! I need a little help though. As of right now, this is what our itinerary looks like:
3 Days in Wicklow County
2 Days in Wexford County
2 Days in Kilkenny County
My problem is this. Our return flight leaves from Dublin Airport at 10:30am on a Sunday. We are more than likely the last two days of our trip going to be staying in Kilkenny City, which is roughly a two hour drive back to Dublin. Being that our flight leaves at 10:30, we have to go through customs, and return the rental car, would it be better if we cut Kilkenny to 1 day, and head back closer to Dublin? I am having a hard time deciding because I was hoping to take a trip to Rock of Cashel, and we would also like to visit Jerpoint Abbey, plus see the things in Kilkenny City. I know there's no way we could do that in one day. At the same time, I don't want to take a chance of missing our flight home. What would you do?
Thanks for all the wonderful help everyone that visit's this board gives! I hope everyone has a Happy and Blessed New Year!
If you are taking a flight back to the States then you need to be at Dublin Airport 3 hours in advance. Depending on your car company, you may need 30 minutes to an hour to return. Definitely stay nearby the airport on your last night.
Here's a plan. Spend 2 nights in each of the three places and your last near the airport. Return the car the afternoon before departure. Take the hotel shuttle to the airport in the morning. This will greatly simplify your life.
