Dan Dooley pricing and airfare question.

I have 2 questions. So I am at the stage of booking my car rental for my fall trip to Ireland. I have researched alot in regards to cdw and excess waiver. Dan Dooley has given me a quote for a week at $416 usd (website states $311 Euro not sure about why the exchange is so diffrent). That includes everything as well as an aditional driver. All the other companies (Hertz, Avis) want $550-$600 usd. Is Dan Dolley really that much cheaper? I got all my quotes over the phone to make sure it included everything. Does this sound like a good rate?  Also I am using the code dochara for 5%. Is there a new code for 10%? I though dochara was 10.

The second question is airfare. I usually fly out of Orlando, but saw a good price out of Tampa (about 1 1/2 hr drive from home. The price is $853 flying into dublin out of shannon. Orlando is $1140 SHould I bite the bullet and book with this price, or wait until Jet blue post prices(which usually are lower) Thanks for all your help.

Hazel,

Welcome to my forum. The pricing of car rental companies is just as understandable as the price of airfare. No rhyme or reason to the casual observer. confuse  I have successfully used Dooley (among other car companies) with no complaints or problems. If you have a question about exchange rates you can phone them and ask. Or you can choose to put the charge through in euros instead of $$. However, I would check with my credit card company first to see if they levy a "foreign transaction fee" which can be 3% or more.

The code you are using previously gave 10%. Right now it is giving a 5% discount. Better than none.

As for your airfare, you need to weigh your options and do what you think is best. You mention you are departing in the fall. Anything can happen between now and then. Prices might go down. They might go up. Everything I see on the news say gas is going way up this year. They could add a fuel surcharge too. Booking flights are are a game that the airlines usually win. Just like the house always wins in Vegas.
