All networks in the republic cover the Island of Ireland. UK sim cards are Roaming if used outside the 6 counties. When I phoned Tesco customer service before Christmas I was told Blackberries were none compatible with the current network settings. It seems some progress is being made.

So since I am starting in Belfast, I would probably not be able to buy a sim card that would work for all of Ireland there, but if I had started in Dublin then I would have been able to get one that would work in NI, right?
You can get TESCO sim in the north, pay £1.99 for an Ireland add on so you can use the phone in the republic at UK rates for Calls and texts only. no data included and no cheap calls back to the states,

Those are some weird phones! I have never seen a cell phone that didn't use a sim card. Our Galaxy S II's have their sims right next to our added SD memory cards.

I have only ever had one phone that used a sim...my Blackberry.

TESCO UK supports all Blackberry functions, but data is not included in the Ireland Bundle once this side of the border. You have to call customer services to activate the bundle.
