Thanks Tony. That is important info for tourists. I've been saying for a while that traveler's checks are Stone Age technology. People are being forced into the computer age - like it or not.
I posted this warning mainly because there was a tweet by our beloved Irish Fireside containing a feature that was telling people to buy Travellers Cheques.
I did leave a warning on the site as a reply (as yet unpublished) but perhaps loosing face is more important than admitting a minor mistake? Of course just because the site has been updated recently it is no reflection of the original publication date.

Not all travel sites are right up to date with info. I did cringe when I read "Buy traveller’s checks in local currency – that would be euro for the Republic of Ireland and pounds sterling for Northern Ireland." That is one thing I always recommend NOT doing. They are virtually useless, the exchange rate is bad and almost no one but banks took them. Now it seems AIB won't take any kind soon.
I believe the owner of the site mentioned might live in No. Ireland or the borders because it says she is a guide at Marble Arch Caves. Perhaps the news hasn't caught up with her yet. I hope Tony's comment reached her.
